Energize Vermont Welcomes Becca Dill

Environmental and social justice advocate Becca Dill will lead EV’s support for sensible energy and climate policy.

East Burke, VT—The Board of Directors of Energize Vermont today announced the appointment of Becca Dill to serve as the organization’s Director. Established in 2010, Energize Vermont is the statewide non-profit founded to promote energy and climate policies protecting Vermont’s environment and respecting Vermont communities.

Dill comes to Vermont from Louisiana, where she worked with the Louisiana Environmental Action Network (LEAN) while completing her master’s degree in social work, with an emphasis in policy advocacy and community engagement, at Louisiana State University. At LEAN, she worked with Louisiana communities to advocate for environmental justice in a context where energy policy has long been dominated by the interests of oil and gas companies. Along with her work at LEAN, Dill conducted community engagement efforts to support social justice initiatives, ranging from food insecurity to landlord-tenant rights.

As a native of Mississippi, Dill experienced firsthand the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and subsequent recovery efforts in her Gulf Coast hometown of Long Beach, Mississippi. The experience led to pursuing a career dedicated to advocating for environmental justice and preserving natural resources.

“I am eager to bring my passion and energy to Energize Vermont,” Dill said. “I look forward to working with Vermont communities to support energy and climate policies that protect the environment, preserve Vermont’s unique natural resources, and respect our communities.”

Energize Vermont Board Chair Mark Whitworth welcomed Dill’s appointment.

“Her experience with policy advocacy and community engagement will be invaluable in furthering Energize Vermont’s work on behalf of an energy future for our state that achieves Vermont’s climate goals while respecting our environment and engaging our communities,” Whitworth said.

Dill is relocating from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Morrisville, where she will live with her husband, her beloved German shepherd and three cats.
